Thank You Summer CSA Members!

Thank you to our members for another great season of Summer CSA Shares! We're closing out the season with yet aother rainy Monday harvest morning, fitting considering the summer we've had. One of our workshares likes to call it Mud Monday. Rain aside, I'd like to extend another thank you to our CSA members this year. We made a lot of changes this year and I appreciate everyone sticking with us as we navigated big transitions. I wish I had a little more energy to go into it all, but I think that will wait for the winter. You may have noticed the newsletters getting shorter as the season wears on and fatigue sets in. I'll do a full recap from our first season as Dog Days Farm once the farm slows down, but for now I'll end the summer the same way I have every year for the last five years.

It's bittersweet to greet the final week of Summer Shares. On the one hand the farmers are tired and welcome a change of pace as we move into our fall harvest schedule, but on the other it means that the growing season is coming to a close. We spent the last 16 weeks doing what we love--growing delicious produce that we get to share with hundreds of families each week. It's a privilege to seed, plant, harvest, wash, and pack vegetables that we know wind up on the dinner table of so many community members. Watching the fields fill up and literally reaping the fruits of our labor is a small joy every day. So I offer a heartfelt thank you from myself and the crew. The Summer CSA is the driving force of the farm and without it our farm would look drastically different. Our members make it all possible, and I hope that you enjoy the produce as much as we do growing it.

All that said, Fall shares are starting up the week after Summer ends, and even though it's supposed to be a change of pace, the fields are looking full of produce on the cusp of harvest. We'll be all hands on deck for harvest at least through October before everything that is in the field is picked. There are still a couple shares left in the Fall CSA. If you want to keep enjoying fresh produce until the week of Thanksgiving, look for the link below to sign up. Some produce that will be ready for fall includes: Broccoli, Broccolini, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Carrots, Beets, Lots of Salad Greens, Lettuce, Leeks, Winter Squash, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, and much, much more!
