Greetings, Everyone! The warm nights this week were exactly what the fields needed for a little extra growth before the end of the outdoor growing season! We’ve got a large list of produce coming to the market at Cheshire Med on Thursday including Broccoli, Carrots, Beets, Cabbage, Lettuce, Lettuce Mix, Radishes, Winter Squash, and so much more delicious fall produce!
We’ve still got lots out in the fields, we’re just waiting for some of it to get to maturity. Rains in the summer pushed back seeding and planting dates a couple weeks in August and we’re trying to make them up on the other end. If we get the mild fall and winter predicted with El Nino then we could be picking in the fields until December. Everything outdoors has been covered with row cover and hoops to create ‘low tunnels’—essentially little greenhouses in the field to add some extra warmth at night.
We’ll pick from the fields for as long as we can while we ‘bank’ produce in the greenhouses. Once we get to a certain point in the fall growth essentially comes to a halt, so for the greenhouses we like to grow as much as we can until that point and then start harvesting it so we have plenty to last through the winter. We’ve got some great looking chard, kale, spinach, radishes, and salad greens that will be ready in December, January and February. Lots to look forward to both this week and through the winter. Farmers Market at Cheshire Medical Center Thursday 11/5
We’ll be in the cafeteria of Cheshire Med on Thursday 11/5 from 10am - 2pm. The cafeteria is downstairs and you can access it from the main entrance and go downstairs or by driving around to the back entrance. There are signs in the hospital for the farmers market and cafeteria.
Lots of great stuff this week including our own tomato sauce and medium salsa, beets, arugula, carrts, lettuce, mushrooms, winter squash, and more plus sweet potatoes and potatoes from Picadilly Farm, and bread from Orchard Hill!

FARM STORE STOCKED THURSDAY MORNINGS UNTIL 11/24
The Farm Store and Plant Stand are both on the farm at 72 Jaffrey Rd, Fitzwilliam, NH 03447. The Plant Stand is at the beginning of the driveway along the roadway and the Farm Store is in the barn straight through after you enter. All payment is to be made in the farm store. You are welcome to shop for your garden starts and leave them in your car while you pay in the store. There is a self service card machine as well as a cash box for cash or check payment. We do not make change, so please plan accordingly.
