Flowers On Sale, Plant Stand, Markets

Good Evening! Ah, it feels so good to finally be done with that heat. Tomorrows forecast of 62 is going to feel so nice, however they are warning of potential patchy frost tomorrow night so make sure to protect any tender plants!

After tomorrow the forecast looks favorable for starting up those veggie gardens and we’ll be putting out a full offering of young plant starts in the plant stand! We have a large selection of heirloom and cherry tomatoes hardening off in an unheated tunnel as we speak ready to go out to the stand Friday morning. The plant stand has been open, but starting this weekend it will be open in earnest after Rachel has spent all week rearranging and making room in the greenhouse for shoppers to actually move around (if you’ve already visited this spring you know what I’m talking about). Leading up to this weekend we need to make some more table space and are having a big sale on Osteospermum, petunias, and pansies to help clear off the benches! Come take advantage of our need for more space!

We’ve been plugging away getting everything planted for the summer. Tuesday was a big transplanting day with over 10,000 seedlings planted in total. Big props and Andrew and Ethan for riding the transplanter all day getting everything in the ground! It’s crazy how fast the fields fill up and now that the planting has begun we keep going every week until the middle of September or so.

We’ll be at our usual markets this week starting on Thursday at Cheshire Med. We don’t have a ton of our own produce because of our greenhouse projects this spring but we do have a ton of produce from neighboring farms! We’ve got more asparagus from Warner Farm, spinach, spring greens, and root veggies from Picadilly Farm, sweet potatoes, and lots of storage veggies. Plus we’ll be bringing lots of potted plants.

Farmers Market at Cheshire Medical Center Thursday 5/21

We’ll be in the cafeteria of Cheshire Med on Thursday 5/21 from 10am - 2pm. The cafeteria is downstairs and you can access it from the main entrance and go downstairs or by driving around to the back entrance (there is construction around the back entrance but you can still access it).
